UPBEAT
Entertainment News Syndicate is a critically-acclaimed
syndicated content model created by a group of progressive
misfits, most of whom have known each other for several
years and numerous "past lives". 99.9% of us work in the
media, the film and television industry, or both. We've
been given a grade of "A" by Wired Magazine and USA Today
not once by twice, inexplicably praised by a plethora of
ultra cool celebrities, including both Angelina Jolie and Russell
Crowe, the now defunct radio talk show The Manversation as
well as talk radio veterans Ed Tyll, and The Truckin'
Bozo. Most of our editors and columnists carefully tread
the fine line between gravitas and levitas. They often sit
and wonder whether or not their realities are their
dreams... or their dreams are their realities. They're
also available for parties.
"UPBEAT Entertainment News Syndicate has been
described as a cultural or sub cultural entertainment
content provider, suggesting, perhaps, that we seek to
reflect or define culture. But this sounds
uncomfortable to me. I'm not really sure if we fulfill that role
and I'm equally unsure about wanting to fill that role.
What we do comes very much from within ourselves. The
articles we publish, the topics we cover, the products we
review in UPBEAT, these are all things we are personally
interested in. What we do is not in any way meant to
reflect a cultural or sub cultural array of tastes. We
often see ourselves as an underground movement of sorts.
We
write about what we love. UPBEAT readers are affluent,
educated, and interested in the latest ideas, both in what
they read and in what they buy. They are committed to
companies and brands that have a reputation for quality,
integrity, and innovation. UPBEAT delivers a growing
audience of these influential thought leaders, people who
establish buying trends and convince others to purchase
products from companies that combine value with quality.
As for our writers and editors, allow me to proudly state
that these top-ranked veteran journalists
have stood toe to toe with and have written most for the
best news/entertainment publications/networks in the
world."

In his web
blog, comics writer Warren Ellis has a running quest to
find the most depraved thing currently being done in the
world of cyberspace. He lays out two possible explanations
for this absurd quest. The first is that we're hurling
rapidly towards an imminent apocalypse and it could all be
over in a matter of seconds— so finding something that
defiles humanity seemed like the thing to do. This is the
one that most people seem to be saying. With that in
mind... however, the second one may be even more
disturbing, if that is at all possible. This is simply the
way the world is now. Depravity is an acceptable form of
our culture. This is normal. And we're all just going to
have to live with it. So these same people... on the
fringe of society who are in the process of falling off
the edge are now "cerebral catalysts" in some inane tribal
game played by out by unsuspecting patrons. There is so
much competition for our constant attention— taking our
thoughts away from our family, our friends, anything
personal and uplifting— that is precisely why UPBEAT
Entertainment News Syndicate follows its own uniquely
distinctive path.
Bad information drives out good. Journalism stooping to
rumor and tabloid values to compete with a plethora of
sources that do not necessarily care about the outcome...
while there seems to be more emphasis on persuasion and
spin. And more people than ever write to gratify their
egos, keep their jobs, or make money. Since market and
entertainment values are more important than truth now— if
such a thing as truth even exists in a postmodern world—
the reliability of a book is less important than its
entertainment value or its political ideology or its
market value.
This is where UPBEAT Entertainment News Syndicate and the
rest simply "part ways"... because, here... we DO care, we
do feel a responsibility to those we interview and those
we care about. Today, all of us here at UPBEAT still write
to inform... to bring to light the facts and show a
perspective far less traveled.
