A second-generation American, Nadine Meeker wrote her first story in the third grade and has no intention of stopping anytime soon. It was at that time she told her parents she was going to go to college on a scholarship for writing. Coming from a blue-collar family that didn’t have much money at the time, her parents encouraged her. Nadine’s love for storytelling grew from her maternal grandmother who lived with the family. She often spoke of her travels and adventures about coming from England to America and Nadine was
hooked— she wanted to be a great storyteller too. She’s worked for three different newspapers and became the editor-in-chief of her high school and collegiate newspapers. She attended a summer school program while in high school, in which only one out of every 800 students who apply is chosen, due to her creative writing. In 1989, she achieved the goal she set when she was nine. She received a full-tuition scholarship to Monroe County Community College to study journalism. She holds an Associates Degree in a duel major of journalism and psychology. At the moment, she’s working on
freelance journalistic pieces for UPBEAT Entertainment News Online in addition to three novels and three screenplays. She resides in Michigan about 500 feet from Lake Erie. In the evening and during stormy nights she enjoys listening to the waves. She lives with her husband whom she married in 1990, divorced in 1996 and remarried in 1999. Her family considered it "taking a break from each other" and not really a divorce. Nadine and her husband see it as taking sometime to grow up and discover themselves since the first marriage happened when they were both 19. The couple have a daughter who was born in 1992 and who, like Nadine, is an only child and enjoys it that way. When Nadine isn’t writing, which is rare, she’s usually surfing the net or watching 'Xena Warrior Princess' with her husband and best friend of 25
years— both of whom she converted into ‘Xenites’. They enjoy the ‘Mystery Science Theater 3000’ approach to
viewing— pointing out bent swords, bad guys who fall down before they’re even punched and in-depth discussions on how Xena can jump three stories in the air from a standing position. As for the "are they or aren’t they" debate about Xena and her special sidekick Gabrielle they all manage to
agree— they most certainly "are". Nadine also enjoys listening to
music— everything from big band swing to grunge rock fills her musical library of
well over 600 CDs, 100 plus vinyl albums and too many 45’s to count.
