JoAnna Zulli Take Five Film Review The Soap Beat

JoAnna Zulli (who hasn't actually been photographed with her permission since the 4th grade picnic) is a renowned soap opera journalist, who has written for top celebrity magazines, such as, Star Magazine and Soap Opera Magazine and also wrote a soap opera column for the New York Post under her byline. Currently, Zulli has extended her numerous talents and is freelancing for Woman's World, a nationwide Woman's Weekly Magazine and, of course, she contributes to the top syndicated online magazine, UPBEAT Entertainment News. Zulli started her career 15 years ago as a Photo Assistant at Star Magazine and worked her way into the editorial department, where she became an Editorial Assistant. There, she wrote feature columns including, the Last Word (What's New In Television, Movies, Books, Music; Star Facts; Home Videos (reviews and ratings); in addition to fillers and short feature articles. A few years later, in addition to writing these features, Zulli became the Associate Editor of Star Magazines quarterly celebrity fashion magazine, What People Are Wearing. In 1991, Zulli was promoted to Daytime Editor of Star Magazine writing a weekly page focusing on soap stars and television daytime dramas. Varied content included, several different types of soap opera stories focusing on plotlines and personalities; casting items and news items. In 1995, Zulli was asked to join the company's (American Media) team at Soap Opera Magazine, which was based in Florida, but relocated its offices the Star office in Tarrytown, New York. As News Editor she wrote and edited articles for the news section. As the magazine and sales grew, Zulli was deservedly promoted to the position of Managing Editor, taking on a more active part in the magazines development. Her daily responsibilities included running the news department (which had a staff of six), writing headlines, assigning, writing and editing and researching news stories for a section titled, Buzz In The Biz, editing storylines, working on cover concepts, and proofreading final pages. A year later, in addition to her full time position at Soap Opera Magazine, she was asked to take over the soap column in the New York Post, where each week she reported the latest plotlines, cast changes, behind-the-scenes gossip and much more. Although JoAnna Zulli can't get enough of her soaps, she now enjoys the challenges of writing for another part of the industry.
