Brian
Fritz is the ever colorful, always candid host of Between
the Ropes on WQTM SPORTS RADIO 540 in Orlando, Florida. Fritz was born on January
26th, 1973 in the small town of Herscher, Illinois. At the age of 10, the Fritz household packed up and headed
for Orlando, Florida where he has lived ever since. It wasn’t until the age of 14 when The Fritz-meister was completely absorbed into the wacky world that is professional wrestling. One Saturday night as Fritz desperately searched for meaningful
entertainment— he surfed the channels
until— he witnessed the always
wily Tully Blanchard narrowly escape a loss with Brad Armstrong while defending the
television title. But the one colorful icon moment that forever sealed Fritz's fate as a pro wrestling
aficionado was finally having had the opportunity to witness
live— the always flamboyant world champion,
The “Nature Boy” Ric Flair. From that point on, whenever wrestling was on, Brian watched it.
Since the early days— Brian Fritz has been a jack-of-all-trades for Sports Radio 540 The Team, including talk show host, producer and roving
sports radio journalist— covering such teams such as the Tampa Bay Bucs, the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Orlando Magic. He had always dreamed of hosting a professional wrestling talk show. Finally, he convinced the station's program manager to air
his show— Brian teamed up with Dickerman who was then working with The Team's sister station 101.1 WJRR The Rock Station and convinced the bad boy of the air waves to join him. On August 25th, 1998,
Between
the Ropes hit the airwaves with a vengeance. The show is concise, in-depth and in-your-face, as Fritz and Dickerman continue to garner well-deserved critical acclaim from the pro wrestling industry.
Some of Brian Fritz's on-air interviews have included—
The Rattlesnake himself, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Lance Storm,
WWF Big Kahuna Vincent K. McMahon Jr. (or Mr. McMahon as we call
him), Bret Hart, The Rock, Mick Foley, Rob Van Dam, and Chris Jericho, to name but a few. Fritz has also written a weekly pro wrestling column,
an insider's perspective, for The Orlando Sentinel. When not
completely absorbed by a wild top of the rope suplex—
Fritz can be found spanning the globe for any/all sports
information.
