Assembly is rather easy— it actually takes about 15 to 20 minutes tops and comes with precisely detailed instructions that any novice can easily tackle. Simply apply four small decals, attach the seat and steering wheel, and install the radio and vehicle batteries. While Little Tikes Adventure Series HUMMER® H2™ may not have the horsepower of the original, the 12-volt battery will provide hours of endless fun before it needs recharging and allows the vehicle to reach a top speed of 5 mph. Since assembly happens so quickly it’s not a bad idea to charge the battery first before the kids get to see the vehicle. The reason being— as soon as it’s put together, the kids will definitely be ready to roll [and battery charging time is at least 18 hours— for a fully discharged battery]. So it’s a good idea to keep that in mind when the holidays start closing in on you. However, once it’s been charged up, the Little Tikes Adventure Series HUMMER® H2™ which, as mentioned, uses 12V 12AH batteries, this means that the battery actually lasts about 130% longer than some of the other “vehicles” on the road to give kids much more enjoyable drive time. Plus, unlike other chargers on the market, the Little Tikes charger shuts off once the battery is fully charged, which prevents overcharging which can damage the battery. The vehicle is already preset at a comfortable 2.5 miles per hour for smaller beginner drivers. Once your children have mastered steering and peddle operations then the unit can be set at 5 miles per hour simply by disconnecting the high-speed lockout screw. As for reverse the child simply puts the shifter into the “R” position to back up at a maximum speed of 2.5 mph.
