Tech Beat is
obsessive weekly light-hearted coverage of everything that's new
as well as all that is tried and true... in gadgets and consumer
electronics. When was the last time you actually felt compelled
to "troubleshoot" your hard drive, believing that it is
inhabited by an overweight hamster on a slow-moving wheel?
Well... fret no longer because now you don't have to do anything
more than read on... for we are far more than just CPU lubricant
for the mind. Every generation exults in the efficiency it has
introduced. The horse collar was as great a breakthrough as was
the invention of soap; the daring of the flying buttress or the
potentiality of paper, both changed the world; the wheel and
inclined ramps to haul stones made the world a better place for
hominids. But, today, as the pioneer specialists conjure up more
impressive milestones of technology... we've got you covered. We
have recurring dream involving recursive functions... we have
confessed to not being able to decide if we'd like an infinite
amount of finite state machines or a finite amount of infinite
state machines. We often experience sudden attacks of
bittersweet nostalgic feelings when thinking about our long-lost
old Commodore 64, Sinclair ZX-81 and TRS-80... Our primary goal
is to provide both a substantive information resource and an
"easy to understand" format for the technically-challenged as
well as those of us who prefer to endearingly call ourselves "Humungo-Techs"...
and if we don't know about a product, or if the company we have
requested review copies from has decided to ignore us... we'll
just make it all up and try to sound as convincing as we
possibly can [we're kidding].
