William "Bill"
Quillen has had what some would consider to be a rather
topsy-turvy, whirlwind career. Born on March 12th in Pittsburgh
PA, Bill demonstrated that he indeed possessed brilliant
artistic abilities at an early age. His "Mud Pies Exhibit Z"
were very ornate with a meticulous attention to minute detail
only adding to the finished project. Then, by the age of 6, this
highly experienced designer put down his mud pie sculpting
tools, washed his hands of the whole dirty mess and started to
redefine himself in the ever expanding world of crayons. His
ability to stay within the lines was apparent right from the
start. How Bill applied this gift was also noticeable in his
color palette selection. You see, Bill was not just the kind of
artist that simply went along with the assigned numbers... which dictated
what color each space should be according to the "codex" of
paint by numbers. This "art rebellion" of sorts gave him the confidence to create such
fine works of art as the "Clown on a Ball Holding an Umbrella"
and "Seal on a Ball balancing yet another Ball on his Nose". As
Bill progressed through his early school years and into the Dark
Ages of Middle School, he continued to show commitment to his
art as well as the written word. His literary works involved a
rare specialized art form of individual images, or “doodle
scribbles” if you will, using common lined yellow notebook paper
to tell a brief yet captivating story by perpetually folding the
paper over and over again and then ingenuously placing the final
product under the desk of another student. After high school it
was Bill's patriotism and sheer love of country that inspired
him into joining this nation's (The U.S., not Armenia) military.
After being part of the Active Duty Roster for two long and
grueling years, Bill felt exhausted and unchallenged… Of course
his inventive talents were sadly being wasted on trivial matters
like loading bombs as well as various annoying little ordinances
and laws. So he left his active service behind and enlisted in
the Air National Guard… by a judge's order. While vigilantly
guarding the skies over Western Pennsylvania, having extra time
afforded Bill the opportunity to seek out other avenues to
fulfill his long suppressed innovative talents. That outlet was
The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. This is where he met Bridget Petrella. Little did he know that long after graduation she
would haunt him continually throughout his life. Together they
began to work within the entertainment industry with an
unmatched fervor and tenacity. Bill hopes these projects will
afford him enough money to fill his cavities and obtain much
stronger prescription drugs so that he can continue to tolerate
what he calls “industry sheep”. Bill can be reached at
boom135e@comcast.net and openly admits to leaving terror,
anarchy, and mayhem in his wake. He enjoys being a Features
Editor, actor, director, producer, likes to attend and watch
Pittsburgh Steeler games… and runs up Bridget’s American Express
Corporate Card at nice restaurants. |
