Universal's ‘American Pie 2’ Offering Up The Whole Damn Pie.

America's favorite sexually challenged teenagers are back for a second helping in 'American Pie 2,' the sequel to the box-office smash 'American Pie.' Now on DVD in both its theatrical version and a special uncut version that contains seven minutes of never-before-seen footage, with 'American Pie 2' and 'American Pie 2: The Version You Couldn't See in Theaters' fans of the franchise are guaranteed to get their share of pie thanks to over 10 hours of bonus features. 'American Pie 2' picks up a year after we left our favorite sex-crazed teenagers, this time facing the first summer back home after spending two semesters in college. Determined not to let a year apart change their friendship, the gang (Jim, Kevin, Stifler, Oz and Finch) spends the summer at local a beach house to keep their friendship in tact. But as the summer comes to a close, the guys realize that sometimes in order to grow up you have to let go of some things you held near and dear to your heart— and that includes your high school friends and high school loves. Unlike most sequels, 'American Pie 2' not only managed to get its entire cast to sign back on for the sequel, but also managed to deliver more laughs, more sex and more gross-out moments that are guaranteed to keep viewers entertained. One scene in particular, which features Stifler (Seann William Scott), Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) and Jim (Jason Biggs) performing sexual acts on one another to get two females to do the same, will have even the most conservative viewers rolling on the floor with laughter. Additionally, the second helping of 'Pie' features a lot more of the cast members the first film didn't really focus on (mainly Stifler and Finch) to keep things from feeling stale.

While their plotlines aren't much different— Finch is still dreaming of that night he spent with Stifler's Mom and Stifler is still, well, a sex-crazed jerk— the additional time the script spends on them shows viewers just how outrageous and weird these two characters really are. Furthermore, since their screentime generates the most laughs throughout the film, the characters that we are familiar with— Oz, Jim and Kevin— are able to take on relatively milder storylines that allows their characters to mature without the film coming across as a coming-of-age drama. As for the DVDs, both the 'American Pie 2' and 'American Pie 2: The Version You Couldn't See in Theaters' DVDs feature hours of bonus materials, from the traditional feature commentaries and filmmaker bios to a special behind-the-scenes look at the "Baking" of 'American Pie 2.' However, it's the features that incorporate both 'American Pie' films that fans of the series will find the most interesting, including the never-before-seen screen tests for the first 'American Pie.' As if it isn't entertaining enough to see what scenes stars Jason Biggs, Shannon Elizabeth, Chris Klein and Thomas Ian Nicholas had to perform during their auditions, seeing how young the cast looked (and how outdated their hair styles were) just a few years ago is simply hilarious. Meanwhile, the viewers' top 10 scenes selection incorporates the top 10 scenes of both 'American Pie' films, as voted on by fans, into one special bonus feature that allows viewers to relive the cast's craziest moments.

Other interesting and entertaining features on the DVDs include an outtakes reel, a handful of deleted scenes, the 'American Pie 2' theatrical trailer with a hilarious introduction by Jason Biggs and a feature entitled 'Behind the Scenes Craziness with the Stars' that leaves the cameras running while the cast is at play in-between takes. This brief feature, though relatively chaotic, truly captures the fact as to why the 'American Pie' films are such a success— because the cast's friendship isn't just something they share on-screen, it's something they share off-screen as well. For those who can't stop their craving for another piece of 'Pie,' the 'American Pie 2' and 'American Pie 2: The Version You Couldn't See in Theaters' DVDs are both guaranteed to cure your hunger. They are thosee rare DVDs that manage to not only capture the humor and craziness on the set of the film, but also the highlights of the film they are a sequel to. A must-own for all of you "pure entertainment" 'American Pie' fans! UB
